New publication activities

SeisRICherCRO researchers have published two new scientific publications related to specific Objectives of the project.

Publication “Analysis of Local Site Effects in the Međimurje Region (North Croatia) and Its Consequences Related to Historical and Recent Earthquakes” has been published in the Remote Sensing journal (Q1 according to SJR), https://www.mdpi.com/2072-4292/14/19/4831. This study, although is regionally oriented (Međimurje region in Northern Croatia), shows potential to use macro-approach as a first step of identifying potentially dangerous seismic zones in a bigger region using ambient noise measurements and its connection to past earthquake macrointensity observations.

Publication “Regionally adjusted ground motion model: Case study of the ML6.2 (Mw6.4) Petrinja (Croatia) 2020 earthquake” is published in the Studia Geophysica et Geodaetica journal (Q3 according to SJR), https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11200-022-0914-6. Adjustment of the GMPE to the different seismological environments and site conditions using ground motion duration and Fourier Amplitude Spectrum models constructed for predicting the response spectral ordinates using Random Vibration Theory approach can be applicable GMPE candidate for the PSHA studies in the Western Balkan. This is particularly important for the Croatian seismic community since current attenuation relations are derived only for a single PGA value for rock conditions.
